The world’s most rapidly and widely ratified human rights treaty, the CRC sets out a basic, universal standard for a healthy, protected, decent childhood for every human being yet every minute a girl-child is married off against her will, education attainment terminated and dreams aborted by this reoccurring act. continuous practice of early girl-child marriage is caused by a number of factors which include poverty and …
Solution
SNCC focus on empowering girls, mobilising families and communities, provide health services, establish and implement laws and policies. We will work directly with girls to give them the opportunity to build skills and knowledge, understand and exercise their rights and develop support networks, this is an important part of our efforts to end child marriage. Using an empowerment approach can lead to positive outcomes for girls and their families by supporting girls to become agents of change.
Long-Term Impact
This project will empower 1,000 young girls and young brides, allowing them to rise out of the state of helplessness and illiteracy to active agents of change in their communities. The sensitization workshops will encourage parents and community leaders’ participation in advocacy against girl- child marriage and ensure the enactment of regulations that curb early girl-child marriages in Nigeria and raise a lasting awareness against this practice through the gender equality workshops
